20 in 20: June Birthday Bash Giveaway, Day 5

Yesterday’s painting was inspired by the word, cirquare, so today’s started with the word squircle.

Of course, after having painted the dark blue shape that I thought was a squircle, I read more about it, and discovered that what I’d drawn is actually a rounded square. Oh well. Maybe there’s a squircle in there somewhere.

Day 5 of 20 in 20 in the studio

This is a gouache painting, about 3in square on a 6in square piece of Arches 90lb paper.

  1. Very nice Anika. But for gods sake get that painting stuff off the beautiful dining room table!!! 🙂

  2. i love the idea of giving something that you made away every day for a period of time.

  3. Oh shoot, I haven’t been keeping up with these! This is beautiful, it reminds me of a chakra.

  4. Is it crass if I keep commenting? I love Your Brother’s comment and the picture of the painting with all of its supplies. I have a palette like that as well but haven’t used it yet. May have to give it a try.

    1. No way is it crass! I don’t mind if you win every single painting! the gods of random.org shall decide (unless my nieces & nephew are handy, they do a good job too!). I made that palette ages ago when I took an oil painting class, and it’s still my favorite. so easy to clean, and far superior surface than a disposable palette.

  5. I think the colour palette of this artwork is lovely, including the liner pattern. Would look nice on a wall in my house 😉 x

  6. I have to admit this is more like what I originally thought a “squircle” would look like than the previous painting. But both are lovely.

  7. I want this one!!! Who am I kidding I want all of them!!! Love the colours and how it feels so fresh. Like a flower in bloom! Keep up the amazing work.
Hope the sun is shining down on you today.
    Much Love,
