Late Night Visitors

I noticed a huge moth clinging to the screen of the window. I went outside to check him out and was so impressed by his markings that I had to grab my camera and snap a few shots. I was even lucky enough to have one of them turn out well too!

Gorgeous, right? I love the pattern on his wings and the slightly iridescent dark blue sheen on some of the spots in the middle.

Much to my surprise & delight, once I’d finished the photo shoot with the moth, I happened to spy a pebbly green tree frog clinging to the trim that wraps around the front porch.

Isn’t she beautiful? I’ve seen similar frogs now & then, but usually they are gray or brown. To see such a pretty green one was a real treat!

It’s amazing what can be discovered if you let your curiosity lead you & investigate the things that catch your eye!

  1. That moth is amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a white one. Grey or dark colours, but never white. Fantastic!! Very beautiful little frog too. This reminds me of the time my husband and I popped out our front door in our townhouse in Ottawa to happen upon a praying mantis hanging out in my flower boxes.

  2. I’m no expert, but I’m pretty sure it’s a Gray Tree Frog. I think it’s so odd that you found this little frog, considering I just drew one last month! The grays are my all-time favorite species of frog. I particularly love it when they’re green. Beautiful shots!

I got my day 9 painting it looks even more gorgeous, can’t wait to frame it and hang it on my wall! Thank you so much 🙂

  4. Don’t know how I missed this post, Anika, but I’m happy that I found it now. I love “late night visitors” that show up on our deck and its great that you have some beautiful ones as well. Froggies are one of my favorites, too. My husband woke me up last night when he took our dog out to tell me that “Miss Toad” is back. She hadn’t visited in over a week! It’s awesome how the little things make us happy and give so very much inspiration.

    1. We had a little toad visitor last night too! We saw him when we got back from our bike ride. Didn’t mean to startle him, but I have to say he was very cute as he hopped away. 🙂
