New Year, New Sketchbook: a giveaway!

While I was out shopping for Christmas presents this year, I found it hard to avoid temptation to pick up a fun item or two for myself. Especially when I went to IKEA, because I discovered that they had brand new sketchbooks! I was so excited that not only did I pick up a few for myself, I also got one of each color to giveaway to 3 of my blog readers!

That’s right! I’m giving away 3 sketchbooks! I’ll give 1 pink, 1 purple, or 1 blue sketchbook to 3 lucky winners.

I made a quick video to give you a better idea of what they are like.

Please note: I don’t usually pronounce pink as “peenk”. Not sure where that came from. Also, when I say the purple is more purple, I meant that it’s more of a warm purple, not as blue as it looks on the video!

As you can tell from the video, they are filled with blank paper, but they have a nifty ruled plastic insert page too.

I love the size of the book–feels very comfortable to hold on my lap and sketch. Truthfully, it’s not the best quality paper in the world, but it’s perfect for basic sketching.

If you’d like to start off this new year with a new sketchbook, then leave a comment that tells me which is your favorite color of the 3 choices (I’ll do my best to give the winners their favorite, but I can’t make any promises!), and let me know what your New Year’s resolution is if you have one!

I’ll pick the winners at random. Comments for this giveaway will close in 1 week–Next Sunday January 8th (at midnight!) with the winners announced Monday January 9th.

Good luck!

  1. Kudos for starting the year off on a generous note! I love the pink one, I’m a sucker for pink lately (especially when it’s accompanied with grey). I’d love to use it as a gardening journal. We’re in the process of renovating our yard with several raised bed vegetable gardens and flower gardens.

I have never liked to make resolutions but I always tend to reflect on the past year and see what areas I need to adjust. I’d like to handle stress better and worry less. Take a deep, reflective breath before reacting.

  2. I love to draw! I wouldn’t mind if I don’t win, but I’d really like a chance to! And they have a decent design and number of pages! It’s awesome!

  3. Great find! I totally missed seeing these at our local Ikea here in MN. One of my “resolutions” for 2012 was to start an art journal and get back to my drawing roots… and I have “pick up a new sketch journal” on my list of things to do this week… could you help me with this?:) I would totally rock the pink one!

  4. to cook more and be more adventurous a nice purple sketchbook would be great for jotting down new recipes:)

  5. What a fun way to begin the new year! I had not thought about a resolution until i read this post-life has neen busy. So busy, in fact, that I’ve not kept a journal for the last 6 months. I miss it, so starting a new one is my promise to myself this year.
My favorite of the books is the blue one, because it reminds me of twilight, always a favorite moment of the day. The color would be a perfect reminder to stop & take a moment with pencil & paper πŸ™‚

  6. Woo hoo! What an awesome thing you are doing:) My very best favorite color is pink. In fact it’s the only color I wear. So the pinkone would be perfect for sure. I am also an artist so a sketch book would be way awesome. Have a wonderful day:)

  7. Since 2011 saw me get a new better job (not my dream job, but I have plenty of spare time to draw, so all is good ^_^), a license (finally), and a loving boyfriend (which I wasn’t expecting, but was pleasantly surprised all the same), it left little to resolve for the new year but to improve my fitness and to draw/paint/create enough to generate a decent folio of work. So those are my resolutions.
I love the look of that purple sketchbook. Always was a sucker for purple, though, any colour would do. It’s awfully generous of you to do this, no matter who gets them. Kudos πŸ™‚

    1. Oops – my resolution. I have a standing resolution not to make New Year’s resolutions, just setting yourself up for failure. I try to make mine as they are needed rather than once a year.

  8. One of my goals this year is to do art journaling , doodling, (I cannot draw) – have been practicing with my niece’s – this journal book would be awesome, love the lined plastic insert that it comes with – awesome!
If I win – purple is my favorite – if not then blue , pink last
Best wishes to all who enter . I follow you on youtube!

  9. I like all three colors. I don’t make resolutions but I do attempt to reassess my priorities. This year I want to make more art, read more books and spend less time thinking about projects in favor of doing more.
Thank you for the chance. Happy New Year!

  10. One of my art-related resolutions is to actually get on top of that whole “self promotion” and “soliciting for work” thing. It is all stuff that kind of looms in the background, and I keep thinking “maybe later, when I finish that next painting.” But I think it’s time to stop stalling.

    I’d prefer the purple one.

  11. I think the giveaway is a great idea. I love the tree design on them all. I would be happy to get any color. Thank you and Happy New Year!! : )

  12. This is so generous of you. Thank you.
Those notebooks look wondeful. My artistic word for 2012 is ‘OPEN’ so I am open to everything I see.

  13. Thank you for your generosity! I would be happy with any of the colors; I like them all! And the ruled plastic insert thingy is very cool.

My resolution? To integrate all the pieces of my life so I take a more holistic approach. I have compartmentalized things (work, family, friends, hobbies and interests) so they don’t spill into one another. Doesn’t seem natural, and doesn’t give much of anyone the experience of knowing me as a whole person. For good or for ill, I have set about the integration already.

  14. These are so pretty Anika! Thanks for the giveaway! πŸ™‚ I really like the purple or the blue! πŸ™‚
As for a New Year’s Resolution, just having a more balanced and healthy life! πŸ™‚

  15. I would have to say my favorite is pink! Thank you for the chance to win πŸ™‚
I always mentally resolve to do things for the new year but this year, I am going to make a big effort to be more positive in my day to day life. I know it sounds like a silly resolution but I am hoping it will have positive results on my own life and those results will radiate to others in my life.

  16. How nice to know that I’m not the only one who loves blank books! : ) I buy them whether I need them or not and these that you have discovered are definitely ones that I’d have picked. I love the plastic sheet, too. I can not write straight on a blank page to save my life. How sweet of you to share your find!
As for my resolution for the new year, the same as always – eat healthier and draw more.
    Happy New Year!

  17. i am in need of a new sketchbook, i love the pink color! resolution: hmm, decide my future! and umm.. be more expressive, a lot of my friends told me that i rarely show any emotions on my face and so, yeah i need to learn to be more expessive

  18. I love the purple one! Im resolving to get to Antarctica this year, count calories, restart my art blog, and get MOS certified. πŸ˜€

  19. I love the red one. And thank you for the giveaway!
I really want to start my career as a teacher, and this book is good for keeping notes I guess πŸ™‚
